BRIEFING ON “INTER-CIVILIZATION DIALOGUE” CONFERENCE HELD
Baku, 12 November (AzerTAc). Yesterday, after the “Inter-civilization dialogue: Azerbaijani perspective” conference ended in the Azeri capital to mark the 40th anniversary of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the organizers held a press conference on conclusions of the event.
Informing on conference, the deputy minister of foreign affairs of Azerbaijan Vagif Sadigov noticed that representatives of many countries took part in the discussions, including non-members of OIC, the Republic Korea and Argentina. V. Sadigov informed that the conference has been organized by Diplomatic Academy the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and OIC General Secretariat.
The OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu expressed satisfaction with the organization of conference at high level. Having underlined that recently many important international actions have taken place in Baku, the secretary General told that they represent great significance.
Having noticed that in the world there are various cultures, Mr. Ihsanoglu has underlined necessity of dialogue from the point of view of prevention of such erroneous opinion, as “collision of civilizations”. He has told that from this point of view the conference which has taken place in Baku is of great importance. E. Ihsanoglu has informed that during conference very interesting thoughts on adjustment of inter-religious dialogue have sounded.
The Secretary General also has noticed that the media and non-governmental organizations have important problems in realization of dialogue between civilizations and achievement of successes in this area.
