Beijing University to honor Iranian artist

Beijing University will honor an Iranian artist residing in China.

Ghaffar Pourazar is an Iranian artist which the universtiy is planning to honor for his efforts to promote Chinese opera.

The university is planning a ceremony on ovember 14, 2009, for this purpose.

A graduate of Beijing Opera School, Pourazar, has won several outstanding international prizes such as research award from British Association.

Pourazar is the first non-Chinese who has completed his studies on Chinese opera in Beijing academies.

Beijing opera is one of the most perfect performing methods greatly favored by the Chinese people.

Beijing opera is a form of traditional Chinese theatre which combines music, vocal performance, mime, dance and acrobatics.

It emerged in the late 18th century and became fully developed and recognized by the mid-19th century.
