President: Iran and Bangladesh must use all potentials at nations’ service
IRI President said here Monday in a meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart on sidelines of 25th economic summit of OIC, “Iran and Bangladesh must use entire potentials at disposal at service of nations.”
According to IRNA, the Presidential website quoted President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as adding in the meeting, “The relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Republic of Bangladesh are based both on beliefs and on humanity, while there are lots of fields for expansion of bilateral ties that need to be exploited to serve the interests of the two nations.”
Ahmadinejad reiterated, “The two countries have shared viewpoints and shared demands in various fields and the existence of these characteristics has linked the two nations more than ever before, and such a relation is beyond doubt more important than material ties.”
He said, “Of course, the existence of material ties between the nations is a necessity and can in a way serve the two nations, and can even further deepen the existing heartfelt relations.”
The Bangladeshi President Zillur Rahman said that his nation is fond of President Ahmadinejad, considering him a man leading a simple life who is always trying hard for the well being of his nation.
The Iranian president replied, “Expressing such remarks by your good self is due to your brotherly approach, but I believe I am just a small member of the Iranian nation and the Islamic Ummah, while there are beyond doubt better and stronger individuals than I.”
President Rahman, too, during the meeting evaluated Iran-Bangladesh relations as “satisfactory”, emphasizing the need for their further expansion to serve the interests of both nations.
He pointed out, “The people of Bangladesh are also very interested in Iran and in pursuing your country’s developments.”
President Rahman added, “The people of my country have gained their independence after tolerating lots of hardships for the cause and the policy pursued in Bangladesh is in line with securing the people’s interests, from which point it is very similar to Iran.”
He added, “The Government of Bangladesh tries to ensue the well being of its people round the clock, just as the Iranian Government does.”
