WB SAYS TO RAISE YEMEN AID TO $ 200 MN

SANA'A, Nov. 09 (Saba) - The World Bank intends to raise its aid for
Yemen from $ 120 million to 200 million, Vice President of the WB
for the MENA region Shamsahd Akhtar said on Sunday.

Meeting Prime Minister Ali Muhammad Mujawar on her current visit to
the country, Akhtar said the bank is keen on forging its partnership
with Yemen through helping boost development and comprehensive
economic, financial and administrative reforms.

The Sana'a meeting attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic
Affairs and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation
addressed the WB support for developmental projects in Yemen as well
as major obstacles facing Yemen's economy in the present time,
particularly those triggered by the global slump.

Measures taken by the government to deal with the repercussions of
the crisis specifically on the state budget were raised as well.

Mujawar reviewed efforts made to diversify resources to finance the
budget and rationalize spending including those reducing oil
subsidies through establishing gas power plants instead of the
traditional stations.
