Iran ranks 15th in nanotech articles
Iran ranked 15th in international contest in the field of nanotechnology in terms of presenting articles.
Director of Nanotechnology Festival, Hamed Afshari told IRNA Sunday that based on the 20-Year Vision Plan, Iran should be among the top 15 countries in the field of nanotechnology. Fortunately, it has achieved the goal ahead of the schedule.
Stating that the number of visitors to the festival has increased compared to the figure of the past year, Afshari added that the number of pavilions has risen to 220 from last year's 120.
Nanotechnology is a new science in Iran and its development requires the officials’ support, he said.
Ukraine, Russia, Malaysia and England are participating at the festival which was held on November 4- 8.
The festival was the best opportunity for exchange of views between the Iranian and foreign experts, he said.
Nanotechnology, shortened to ‘nanotech’, is the study of the control of matter on an atomic and molecular scale. Generally, nanotechnology deals with structures of the size 100 nanometers or smaller, and involves developing materials or devices within that size.
Nanotechnology is very diverse, ranging from extensions of conventional device physics, to completely new approaches based upon molecular self-assembly, to developing new materials with dimensions on the nanoscale, even to speculation on whether we can directly control matter on the atomic scale.
