Four to face court over grisly death

Two men and two women will appear in court on Wednesday to face charges over the
murder and dismemberment of 27-year-old Melbourne childcare worker Raechel Betts.
John Leslie Coombes, 55, of Preston, in Melbourne's north, was charged with the
murder of Ms Betts.
He is accused of chopping up her body in a bathroom and throwing her remains off a
Phillip Island pier, a court has been told.
Coombes faced an out-of-sessions court hearing on Monday night.
The murder is alleged to have taken place at the Phillip Island home of Nicole
Godfrey, 26, who also appeared at the hearing charged with being an accessary to
murder.
Police allege Coombes strangled Ms Betts after an argument, then carried her to the
bathroom and cut up her body in a bathtub.
The court was told he placed her arms, legs, head and torso in plastic bags and
drove to Newhaven pier and threw them into the sea.
Coombes and Godfrey were remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates'
Court on Wednesday.
Two others, Maureen Renwick, 54, of Viewbank, and Ryan Buscema, 25, of Mill Park,
both in Melbourne's northeast, have been charged with attempting to pervert the
course of justice and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
They were bailed to reappear on Wednesday.
All four accused were arrested on Monday.
Ms Betts disappeared on August 11 from Heidelberg Heights and her left leg was found
washed up on a Phillip Island beach five days later.
She was initially identified by a distinctive floral tattoo, before DNA tests
confirmed the leg was that of Ms Betts.
Ms Betts had told friends she was meeting people at shops in Waterdale Road,
Heidelberg Heights.
Her car was later found in Glover Street, several hundred metres away.
Her distraught grandparents appealed publicly for help to find her killer last Tuesday.
