Govt keens on developing legislative structure of economic areas
SANA'A, Nov.02
(Saba) - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul Karim al-Arahabi
affirmed
on Monday the government's keenness on developing the legislative and institutional
structure of economic areas in Yemen.
Opening a workshop on preparing a law for the economic areas in Yemen, al-Arhabi
pointed that the law represents one of the major reform initiatives contained in
the decisions
of the national agenda for reforms.
Al-Arhabi noted that developing a private law for the economic areas in accordance
with the best international practices will considerably contribute to strengthening
Yemen's
potentials to attract investments.
He indicated the importance of playing a pivotal role by the private sector in
economic areas management in the manner of the successful regional and global
experiences.
In the workshop, International Finance Corporation (IFC)'s experts reviewed a
number of regional and international experiences in economic areas management,
praising the
reform procedures have been achieved the government for establishing private
economic areas.
Most of programs and policies achieved by the government have paid great attention
to the local development and this fits with the government's plans aiming at
setting up
private economic areas, the experts indicated.
