FM: Iran observes national interest in response to West
Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Sunday Iran has fully observed its national interest in a “technical and economic response” to the Western states.
Mottaki is in Malaysia to take part in the 12th ministerial meeting of the D8 group.
Speaking to IRNA upon his arrival in Kuala Lumpur, Mottaki said Iran’s response to the Western states' latest proposal has included some “considerations.”
A number of members of the technical committee which was in charge of studying the Western states' offer said “a new round of technical talks is needed to discuss Iran’s considerations,” about the proposal made during the October 1st meeting in Geneva between the Iranian and Group 5+1 officials.
During the meeting an offer was made for supplying the 20-percent enriched uranium fuel for Iran’s research reactor.
“Iran has completely studied the offer of purchasing nuclear fuel for its research reactor and has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency through its representative to the agency of its considerations about the mechanism of the offer’s implementation,” Mottaki added.
The Iranian minister said further information about the new round of Iran’s talks with the G5+1 would be announced later, mmediately after making due decisions about resumption of the talks.
