Mottaki: Iran-Qatar ties symbol of friendly relations in region
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in a meeting with Qatar Prime Minister Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jaber al-Thani said that relations between Tehran and Doha are a symbol of friendly ties in the region.
According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, in the meeting, which took place in Doha, capital of Qatar, Mottaki said that the fruit of these relations is for both nations and its positive and constructive results are for the region.
Referring to agreements and MoUs in different fields of oil, gas, transportation, joint investment and consulate facilities, Mottaki said that implementation of those agreements are in benefit of both nations and prosperity for the region.
Qatar prime minister, by underlining intention of senior officials of both countries on expansion and strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation said that mutual ties have been always growing and there is no obstacle on the way of consolidating mutual cooperation and commitment for friendship.
He added that Doha is interested in implementing bilateral agreements in different political, economic and trade fields.
Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem, who is also Foreign Minister of Qatar, said that it is necessary to try to upgrade bilateral economic relations to the level of political ties.
In the meeting, both sides expressed pleasure with friendly ties between the two countries and exchanged views on ways of promoting cooperation level.
The two sides also agreed on holding joint economic commission in coming months.
Mottaki, who is heading for Kula Lumpur to attend D8 foreign ministers meeting on Sunday, arrived in Doha on Saturday evening.
