BAKU HOSTS 3rd MEETING OF INTERNATIONAL BORDER CONFERENCE`s WORKING GROUP ON COAST PROTECTION
Baku, 31 October (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s capital hosted the 3rd meeting of the International Border Conference`s working group on Coast Protection.
The two-day meeting brought together officials and experts from Azerbaijan, Estonia, Finland, Germany, USA, Russia, Turkey and Georgia, as well as experts of the EU agency Frontex, which coordinates the operational cooperation between Member States in the field of border security.
The meeting discussed protection of offshore oil and gas fields and future challenges of the working group.
The participants decided to hold the 4th meeting of the working group in Baku next year.
Operating under the Azerbaijan Border Service, the working group is engaged in improving level of protection of sea borders, conducting exchange of experience, combating smuggling, illegal migration, narcotics, weapons and ammunitions trade.
