Japan, NZ to Cooperate in Afghan Support

Tokyo, Oct. 28 (Jiji Press)--Japan and New Zealand on Wednesday
agreed to cooperate on reconstruction and other support measures for
war-torn Afghanistan.

New Zealand sends troops and police personnel to Afghanistan and
hopes to discuss the possibility of cooperation with Japan, visiting New
Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully told his Japanese counterpart
Katsuya Okada.
Tokyo hopes to strengthen its assistance in such fields as
agriculture and school construction, Okada said. The two ministers agreed to
discuss how they can cooperate to improve their Afghan support measures
further.
Okada and McCully signed an agreement to enhance the two countries'
cooperation in science and technology projects, particularly those in the
fields of health foods and biotechnology.
