RUSSIA FOR CONSTRUCTIVE CONTINUATION OF CO-OP ON CASPIAN SECURITY
Moscow, 27 October (AzerTAc). The meeting passed in Baku at high level on security of Caspian Sea, demonstrated interest of all Caspian coastal states to develop cooperation in this sphere, the RF Foreign Ministry`s press department said. As stated, on October 22-23 in Baku the Russian interdepartmental delegation led by the deputy minister of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation S. Ryabkov and the ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Azerbaijan Republic V. Dorokhin took part in the meeting at level of assistants to Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the coastal states.
The goal was realization of agreements of the presidents reached at the Second Caspian summit (October 16, 2007, Teheran) on creation of the mechanism of multilateral interaction in security sphere on the Caspian. The meeting has demonstrated interest of all the Caspian littoral states to develop cooperation in the field of security on Caspian with a view of counteraction to new challenges and threats, the organized crime, terrorism, drug trafficking, and also in solution of other problems.
In focus of discussions was the project of relevant agreement prepared by the Azerbaijani side. During constructive conversation the participants had possibility to state conceptual approaches to the cooperation on Caspian Sea and made concrete suggestions concerning the Draft agreement.
