REPRESENTATIVES OF AZERBAIJAN OMBUDSMAN ATTEND INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR IN ITALY
Baku, 26 October (AzerTAc). Representatives of Azerbaijan Ombudsman attended international seminar in Italy on protection of orphan and deprived children by national human rights institutions.
The event was co-organized by Padua University`s Human Rights Center and the Council of Europe Directorate General for Human Rights.
The Seminar gathered together officials of International Ombudsman Institute, experts of the Council of Europe and representatives of various national human rights institutions.
Participants focused on how national ombudsman offices protect rights of deprived children in their countries.
Azerbaijani delegates raised awareness of attendees about works their office carried out in this regard. They also informed about occupation of Azerbaijan`s 20 percent territory by Armenia, underlining ‘more than one million Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs, 35 percent of which are children.’
