AZERBAIJAN, GREECE EXPLORE ENERGY COOPERATION PROSPECTS

Baku, 26 October (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s minister of industry and energy Natig Aliyev met Monday visiting Greek deputy foreign minister Spyros Kouvelis.
Aliyev praised current level of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece.
He noted Azerbaijan has done a lot to transport its energy recourses to world market, and that the country contributes to ensuring Europe`s energy security.
According to the minister, Azerbaijan has greater potential to sell annually a billion cubic meters of gas to Greece, adding to realize it the transit-related issues must be clarified.
He also spoke of the work done in his country to use alternative and renewable energy resources.
Spyros Kouvelis, in turn, said his government hopes that Azerbaijan will soon transport a large volume of gas to Greek market. He added his country was interested in importing Azerbaijan`s gas in the framework of “Shahdeniz” Stage 2.
Touching upon reciprocal trips by the two countries` leaders, he said President Ilham Aliyev`s official visit to Greece is of significant importance for Athens.
