Iran protests human rights violation in Sweden

Iran’s Foreign Ministry summoned Swedish Ambassador to Tehran Magnus Wernstedt on Sunday to protest the large scale violation of minorities' rights in Sweden.

According to a statement issued by the ministry’s Press and Information Department, Wernstedh, whose country holds the European Union rotating presidency, was summoned to be informed of the 'massive and systematic violations of rights of minorities and refugees, Muslim minorities in particular, in Sweden and other EU member countries.”

Informing the Swedish diplomat of the “dual approaches and political considerations showed by the EU regarding the issue of human rights” was another reason for summoning Wernstdt.

The diplomat said he would convey Iran’s protest to the Swedish authorities and those of other EU member states as soon as possible.
