Turkey is determined to cooperate with Iran: Erdogan

Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who will start a visit to Iran this Monday, said his country is determined to cooperate with Iran for regional stability and development.

Erdogan, who was responding to reporters' questions on Saturday before Leaving Antalia Airport to start his visits to Islamabad and Tehran, said he will have many issues to discuss in Tehran.
He added exchanging views in bilateral, regional and international levels with Iran is very important.
He went on to say the two countries intend to promote trade exchange level to 20 billion dollars in the year 2011, adding that in his meeting with President Ahmadinejad on the sidelines of 64th meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York, they both agreed on the issue.
Erdogan pointed out that Iran would be Turkey’s second supplier for natural gas after Russia and there would be a joint cooperation in the field of electricity, too.
He also referred to Iran's transitional role in exporting Turkmenistan's gas to Turkey and added that there will be negotiation in this concern, too.
Turkey’s prime minister expressed pleasure with joint fight against terrorism with Iran and said that such joint cooperation will increase more than ever.
Concerning Iran's nuclear activity, Erdogan said, "Our policy in this issue is clear and we are opposed to mass destruction weapons and Ankara is not in favor of producing atomic weapon by any country and we are very sensitive in this concern."
About cooperation with Iran, Erdogan said, "We intend to take joint steps with Iran in all fields of stability and development in the region and in my visit to Iran, I plan to meet with first Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi as well as Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
A senior delegation including ministers without portfolio in Culture and Industry Affairs, minister of Energy and Natural Resources, and Foreign Minsiter Ahmet Davutoglu will accompany the prime minister.
Prime Minister Erdogan after his visit to Pakistan will arrive in Tehran on Monday evening.
