Iran’s permanent art gallery opens in Rotterdam

Iran’s Permanent Art Gallery was inaugurated in Rotterdam, Holland, in a ceremony attended by the Iranian deputy ambassador to the Netherlands.

Addressing the ceremony, M. Hosseini stressed the need to introduce Iran’s art and artists to the world.

Describing the inauguration of the gallery as a prelude to interaction between Iran and the West, he noted that such centers which play an effective role in introducing Iran’s art should be developed.

“In the post 30 years, Iranian artists have made great progress in the field of art and have reached such a lofty status that has astonished the world,” he said.

Following Iran’s successful presence in the Venice Biennial and launching a permanent art gallery there, it was decided to open a gallery in Rotterdam in a bid to pave the way for presenting Iran’s art to the world.

The gallery which displays artworks by Iranian artists including Iraj Eskandari, Ahmad Vakili, Nima Petgar, Habib Tohidi and Javad Nobahar was founded by Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry’s Office for Visual Arts Affairs.
