Georgian envoy call for expanding news cooperation

Georgia’s Ambassador to Iran Giorgi Janjgava called for expanding cultural and news cooperation with Iran.

While visiting IRNA pavilion in the ongoing 16th International Press and News Agencies Exhibition, he said that Caucasus has excellent capacity for news exchanges.

“Iran’s media especially IRNA as the greatest and most credited news agency can play a fundamental role in the field,” he noted, adding that the country’s news agencies are active and they can receive and broadcast the news on Caucasus region directly, Georgia in particular.

IRNA is the official news agency of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It is affiliated to Iran's Ministry of Culture and the Islamic Guidance.

It was established in 1934 by the Foreign Ministry of Iran as the country's official national news outlet. For the next six years it operated under the same ministry working to disseminate national and international news. Pars Agency, as it was then called, published a bulletin twice a day in French and Persian which is circulated among government officials, international news agencies in Tehran and the local press.’

Currently, it has 58 domestic offices and 29 foreign offices.
