Iran to respond to ElBaradei’s proposed agreement next week
Iran's Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh said Iran would next week respond to a draft agreement proposed by the UN nuclear watchdog’s chief during the enrichment talks in Vienna.
“Tehran is mulling various aspects of the draft agreement about providing nuclear fuel for Iran’s research reactor and I would announce the outcome of Iran's final assessment next week after returning to Vienna,” Soltaniyeh told IRNA Friday night.
The agreement was drafted by Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Mohamed ElBaradei.
Soltaniyeh stressed that Iran had entered the three days of Vienna talks with a “positive view offering constructive and concise proposals for successful implementation of the project with the help of countries which are related to the IAEA.”
The diplomat added that Iran was, in return, waiting to receive Western powers' response to its proposals.
Soltaniyeh noted that the IAEA has “finally returned to its right track” and is facilitating cooperation among its member states to make peaceful use of atomic energy. The diplomat stressed that Tehran would take it as “a good omen.”
He referred to the three-day talks in Vienna as “positive” and “constructive.”
