Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung

Hanoi (VNA) –Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Oct. 20 spoke highly of the
assistance given to Vietnam by the Republic of Korea (RoK) and urged the country to
provide capital for infrastructure projects in Vietnam.


While receiving Kim Dong-soo, President of RoK's Economic Development Cooperation
Fund (EDCF) and CEO of the Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank), PM Dung
said that both bodies of the RoK are playing an important role in boosting
cooperation between the two countries.

The PM called on the RoK to early consider providing loans for the development of
infrastructure in Vietnam, including highway routes from Hanoi to Hai Phong province
and to Ho Chi Minh City; a railway system from Ho Chi Minh City to Khanh Hoa
province and to Can Tho province; and a road segment in Mekong Delta Kien Giang
province.

Kim Dong-soo pledged to encourage RoK entrepreneurs to actively invest in projects
in Vietnam in a bid to deepen bilateral cooperation.

He also informed the PM of his bank’s plan to sign with the Bank for Investment
and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) an agreement to provide a 50-million-USD loan for
the import of RoK equipment.

As EDCF President, Kim Dong-soo pledged the highest financial support to Vietnam
within the fund’s capacity.-Enditem
