AZERTAC PHOTOGRAPHER RANKS 2nd IN NIKON PHOTO CONTEST INTERNATIONAL-2009
Baku. October 19 (AzerTAc). A photo taken by Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency AzerTAc`s photographer Ilgar Jafarov has ranked 2nd in the Free subject category in the Nikon Contest International-2009 in Japan.
Taken in 2006, the photo, “Bodybuilding Champion”, depicts Azerbaijan`s European champion Vugar Verdiyev who poses during a national cup tournament, with fans capturing the moment with their mobile phones.
The exhibition saw participation of a total of 18,000 contesters from 153 countries who submitted 51,000 photos to the jury.
The Nikon Photo Contest International has been held by Nikon Corporation since 1969 to provide an opportunity for photographers around the world to communicate and to enrich photographic culture for professionals and amateurs alike.
Jafarov was presented with a Nikon camera at an award-giving ceremony in Baku.
Previously Jafarov has won photo competitions in Russia and Austria.
