Lesotho calls for expansion of ties with Iran

Lesotho's new accredited Ambassador to Tehran Tabo Khasibi submitted a copy of his credentials to Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here on Saturday.

According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, Mottaki told his visitor that his meeting with Lesotho's foreign minister in New York on the sidelines of UN General Assembly Sessions and Lesotho's will to start diplomatic relations with Iran made it possible to establish diplomatic ties.
Referring to the common fields of cooperation, Mottaki said that energy, oil, engineering and technical services in construction of dams, strengthening trade and agricultural affairs, sanitation, and education are among fields in which Iran can play an important role in Africa.
The new ambassador, by referring to the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries, said that Lesotho hopes to create grounds for bilateral cooperation in all fields between the two countries.
The African country of Lesotho is located in the southern part of the continent.
