Iran ready to mediate between two Koreas
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in a meeting with South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Lee Yong-Jon here expressed Iran’s readiness to mediate between the two Koreas to solve the peninsula crisis and decrease disputes .
According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department on Saturday, Mottaki said Iran welcomes mutual understanding and agreement between the two republics in direction of peace and stability in the Korean peninsula and is ready to do its best in this concern.
Referring to the bilateral ties between Iran and South Korea, Mottaki said that diplomatic visits and upcoming trip of South Korean foreign minister to Tehran will pave the ground to deepen mutual ties.
Mottaki said that there is no negative point in bilateral relations and they have always been good upon joint interests.
He continued that mutual cooperation has not been balanced in all fields and we hope to be able to make it more balanced in all fields.
Mottaki also expressed Iran’s readiness to participate in joint projects with South Korea in medical and developmental affairs in Afghanistan.
South Korean senior diplomat, by referring to the history of relations between the two countries, said that we want promotion of ties in all economic fields and implementing joint projects and deepening bilateral cooperation in direction of mutual interests.
He also expressed hope that by considering Iran’s potentials in Afghanistan, the two countries can help creation of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
