TURKSOY PERMANENT COUNCIL`s 26TH MEETING KICKS OFF IN BAKU
Baku, October 16 (AzerTAc). The 26th meeting of TURKSOY Permanent Council started Friday here in the framework of the culture year “Baku-Islamic Culture Capital-2009”.
Opening the event, Azerbaijan`s minister of culture and tourism Abulfas Garayev briefed the participants on the history and work of TURKSOY.
He said the purpose of the organization was organizing international dialogue, establishing friendly relations among Turkish-speaking countries, learning their history, culture and literature and other issues.
The Minister expressed confidence for further expansion of the Organization`s activity.
Director General of Turksoy Dusen Kaseinov spoke of the events held by the Organization to bring the Turkish-speaking countries closer.
He praised the initiatives by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev towards expanding the organization`s activities.
Tomorrow, the meeting participants will adopt a declaration on the outcomes of the meeting.
