Moore part of Roar's long term plans

Doubts over Craig Moore's future were dismissed by the Brisbane Roar after the
A-League club unveiled ex-Young Socceroos mentor Ange Postecoglou as their new
coach.

Roar CEO Peter McLennan said Moore was part of Brisbane's "long term" plans
following the mid-week sacking of the veteran's good friend Frank Farina.
There had been speculation that Moore could be looking for a way out following the
coaching change as he looked to enhance his World Cup selection hopes.
One of only two A-League players in the Socceroos squad, he has been told by coach
Pim Verbeek he needs to keep playing until May to remain in 2010 plans.
But McLennan said Moore was not going anywhere soon.
"We see Craig here long term, post his playing days," he said on Friday.
"His passion is the World Cup and to get to that. We want to sit down with Craig and
find out exactly where he wants to be and he has made it very clear that he is here
for the long term."
Moore - who was lured from Europe to Brisbane by his former national boss Farina -
had considered an overseas loan deal or a short-term Asian Champions League stint
with Adelaide United or Melbourne Victory.
As for the coaching change, McLennan said Moore had given Postecoglou the thumbs up.
"Craig's behind this 100 per cent," he said.
"He's a professional. He has been around long enough to know that in football
coaches change."
The Roar reportedly were not going to give Postecoglou the green light until
receiving the nod from Moore but Brisbane chairman Chris Bombolas said it was a
board decision.
"All I can say is that a man of Craig's talent and experience, if you turn your back
and don't take in what he has to say and put that into your thought process you
would be stupid," he said.
"We do value what he has to say.
"He's our captain, he's a Socceroo, he's had experience abroad.
"As a board we take opinions from everyone particularly the captain - but ultimately
it is the board that makes decisions."
Postecoglou also said nothing could be read into Moore not attending the official
press conference unveiling the new coach at Brisbane on Friday.
"That was my decision. He's got a game tomorrow night, I spoke to him and I want him
to concentrate on that," Postecoglou said.
Apart from speculation about Moore, it was also reported that some Roar support
staff had given notice that they intended leaving the club at the end of the 2009-10
season.
But Postecoglou said: "I've got my own ideas about how things should work and it's
about people fitting in with that but certainly there are no preconceptions on my
part about changing anything at the moment."
