Goodrem gets slimy for kids' awards

(AAP) - In between writing songs for her fourth studio album, Delta Goodrem is preparing to expand her resume with her first hosting gig.
The pop princess will get down and slimy hosting the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in Melbourne next month.

It is her first hosting gig and Goodrem said she was looking forward to expressing
her "inner child" with some of her youngest fans.
"This year things just fell into place and I am honoured to host the show," Goodrem
told AAP.
"They are a great mix of fun, excitement, music and fantasy.
"There's always the element of 'slime' surprise - you never really know what's going
to happen next."
Goodrem has taken out the 'Fave Music Act' trophy in the past and had her share of
green slime dumped on her designer frocks - something she calls "brilliant fun".
"I remember when I was slimed a few years ago I just got in the shower at the venue
and laughed out loud for 20 minutes!" she said.
"Let's just say thank goodness the red carpet was pre-show.
"I may have the liberty to change if it happens to me this year."
Goodrem recently returned from a stint in the US and is now hard at work writing a
new album's worth of material.
She hopes to have the album out next year.
"I am really enjoying this time creative time," Goodrem said.
"I am spending time here but also just about to head back to the US - LA and
Nashville - to continue songwriting.
"I still have some more to do but I feel comfortable in my direction and its about
focusing as much time as possible on the new album."
But she's not ready to give away any secrets about the direction the album is taking.
"I don't really want to elaborate until the album is finished as it's important to
keep the energy within for me right now," she said.
As well as planning for the Kids Choice Awards, Goodrem is working on her special
Christmas concert at the Sydney Opera House on December 6.
The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards will be held at Melbourne's Hisense Arena on
November 13, with performances by Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy and Cassie Davis.
