AZERBAIJAN JOINS ITU TELECOM WORLD 2009 EXHIBITION
Baku, 12 October (AzerTAc). Delegation of Azerbaijan led by the minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov, participated in ITU Telecom World 2009, a large ICT exhibition and forum taken place 5-9 October 2009, in Geneva, Switzerland.
After official opening ceremony, presided by UN Secretary General Pan Gi Moon, officials toured the exhibition’s various pavilions including the Azerbaijan stand, featuring most recent advanced achievement in mobile technologies – English-Azerbaijani-English translator phone and also TASIM project.
The exhibition and forum also featured an Azerbaijan Day, which took place at Alabama hall of the Hotel de la Parix, bringing together 150 foreign guests, including 7 ministers and Secretary General of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Dr Hamadoun Toure.
Only held every few years, ITU Telecom World is an unrivaled event for the global telecommunication and information communication technology (ICT) sector. This year’s show attracted all stakeholders from across the sector and around the world for a truly global, world-class event and networking platform with the latest innovations in ICT: from broadband or IP-enabled services, to mobile and wireless technologies, next-generation networks, satellites and much more, spanning the full reach of the ICT industry. The World 2009 Forum has brought together leaders of industry and key policy makers from across the region to debate, discuss and explore areas essential to the growth of the ICT industry.
