Hamish and Andy sweep radio awards

Radio funnymen Hamish Blake and Andy Lee have swept the national radio awards, while
their colleagues Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O were snubbed.
Hamish and Andy won four gongs, including the coveted best on-air team award, at the
annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs) in Sydney on Saturday night.

Austereo's Head of Content Guy Dobson described them as a "phenomenon".
"They continue to deliver original and entertaining content which we are constantly
impressed by," he said.
"These results are a sign of their mass appeal and are absolutely well deserved."
It comes despite a recent ratings drop.
Meanwhile, their 2DAYFM colleagues Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O had been up for
three awards, but didn't win anything and were no-shows at the event.
The pair have been in the spotlight over the last few months after two radio stunts
gone wrong, with Sandilands only returning to radio this week after being suspended.
Others not to turn up included axed mix 106.5 breakfast team Sonia Kruger and Todd
McKenney.
Kruger was nominated for best new talent despite having since been replaced, but
lost out to Nova's national drive host Ryan Shelton, who said he was delighted to
win.
"I am really honoured to have won and hopefully, all things going well, I can win
best newcomer again next year," Shelton said.
Merrick Watts, Tim "Rosso" Ross and Kate Ritchie won the award for Best Station
Produced Comedy Segment for the Evil Rosso Prank series.
Their newsreader Kristy Warner tied with Adelaide FiveAA presenter Jane Doyle for
best news presenter, while Melbourne's Nova 100's Dylan Lewis scored best music
personality.
2GB's Ray Hadley led the AM field.
He picked up the best current affairs commentator award (among three gongs), while
Melbourne 3AW host Derryn Hinch won best talk presenter.
2GB talk host and Alan Jones fill-in Jason Morrison won the Brian White Memorial
award recognising sustained journalistic achievement, for the second time.
Austereo's longest serving employee, broadcast engineer Des DeCean, was inducted
into the Commercial Radio Hall of Fame.
The event, organised by industry body Commercial Radio Australia, was hosted by
Australian Idol's Andrew G, and saw performances from former Idol contestants
Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian as well as Kisschasy.
More than 30 awards were presented covering talk, sport, music and production.
