EUROPEAN PEOPLE'S PARTY INTERESTED IN COOPERATION WITH YAP, AZERI MP
Baku, October 10 (AzerTAc). The European People's Party is interested in cooperation with the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), said Azerbaijani MP, Asaf Hajiyev.
“A recent visit of the New Azerbaijan Party’s delegation to Brussels has been a success.”
“We’ve had a wide exchange of views on cooperation between YAP and the European People's Party during the trip,” he said.
Hajiyev, who was part of the delegation which travelled to the Belgian capital, said the talks focused on YAP`s accession to the European People's Party.
“The European People's Party has 71 member-parties from 39 countries. Of them 18 are ruling parties, including 12 EU and 6 non-EU ones. Only parties representing EU states can enjoy full membership of the European People's Party. Other countries’ parties hold the status of observer.”
“YAP’s desire to become a member of the European People's Party demonstrates that Azerbaijan is committed to European values, and that ensuring the protection of human rights and developing a democratic state are core objectives.”
