BAKU HOSTS 9TH MEETING OF CONSULTATIVE COUNCIL IN CHARGE OF IMPLEMENTATION OF CULTURAL STRATEGY FOR ISLAMIC WORLD
Baku, 10 October (AzerTAc). The 2-day 9th meeting of the Consultative Council in Charge of the Implementation of the Cultural Strategy for the Islamic World yesterday kicked off in Baku.
The event brought together officials of cultural agencies of various Muslim nations, including Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Brunei, Jordan, Cote D’ivoire, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Senegal and Sudan.
The event is considered a preparation to a conference of ministers of culture of the Islamic countries to be convened on 13-15 October.
After recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, chief of ISESCO`s department of culture Naub Riah welcomed the participants on behalf of the Organization`s Director General Abdulaziz bin Osman al-Tuveyrji.
He stressed importance of common cultural strategy for the Islamic world.
Official of Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism Vasif Eyvazzade said his country is adherent to cultural strategy of the Islamic World.
He raised awareness of the participants about projects initiated by the Azerbaijan government and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, including International Mugham Festival, “East-West” Baku International Film Festival, First Baku International Book Exhibition And Fair and ongoing Baku Islamic Cuisine International Culinary Festival.
Eyvazzade said Baku will also host days of culture of various Muslim nations till the end of the year.
The representative of the ministry stated his country is trying to play a role of bridge among civilizations because of its strategically geographical position.
He said today culture of the Islamic world is based on the common source – the Holy Quran.
