CENTER FOR STRATEGIC STUDIES HOSTS MEETING ON AZERBAIJAN-FRANCE RELATIONS
Baku, October 9 (AzerTAc). A meeting on Azerbaijan-France relationship in the context of modern regional geopolitics was held Friday in the Center for Strategic Studies under the Azerbaijan President.
Attending the event, French ambassador Gabriel Keller made a presentation on political, economic and humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and France.
The ambassador said his country was keen on cooperation with Azerbaijan.
He praised the current level of bilateral cooperation, including inter-parliamentary ties.
The diplomat noted France was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan`s independence. According to him, visits by national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to France and documents signed contributed to boosting bilateral cooperation.
Keller underlined Azerbaijan`s strategic importance as an energy producer and transit country. The ambassador also said the European Union attaches significant importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan. He added the country`s participation in the European Neighborhood Policy and Eastern Partnership programs was a vivid evidence to it.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the diplomat underlined the necessity of resolution of the dispute. He added his country backs Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
