Iran, Pakistan discuss cultural cooperation
Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini conferred with the Pakistani Education Minister Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani on the sidelines of the 35th General Conference of UNESCO.
Referring to cultural and historical commonalties between the two countries, Hosseini underlined expansion of mutual cooperation, especially in the form of cultural weeks.
Hosseini proposed the two countries develop their collaboration in producing joint films and TV serials compatible with the two states’ cultures.
He also called on the Pakistani officials to do their best to secure the release of the Iranian diplomat, Heshmatollah Attarzadeh, who has been taken hostage by the terrorists.
Hoseeini said that the terrorist want to harm Iran-Pakistan ties through such acts.
Bijarani, for his part, underlined cooperation between the two countries.
Hosseini arrived in Paris on Tuesday at the head of a delegation to take part in the 35th General Conference of UNESCO which opened on Tuesday. It will work until October 23.
UNESCO General Conference is one of the higher institutes of the UN cultural body which meets every two years with the participation of ministers from 193 member states.
The conference, which meets every two years, determines the policies and main lines of work of the organization, particularly through the examination and adoption of the biennial program and budget of international standard-setting instruments as well as a number of other decisions on important issues.
The General Conference elects the members of the executive board and holds elections for membership of various subsidiary organs. Every four years, it also elects the director-general of UNESCO.
