Iran, Libya review expansion of cultural, educational cooperation


Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini conferred with Libyan Education Minister Abdul Kabir Mohammad al Fakhri on expansion of cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting between the two ministers was held on the sidelines of the 35th session of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed broadening of cultural and educational cooperation with other Islamic states.

The Islamic Republic of Iran calls for promotion of cultural relations as well as upholding ties with other coountries, Islamic states in particular, in various cultural fields.

Iran and Libya have proposed strengthening languages used in the Islamic world mainly Arabic and Persian, he said.


The Libyan minister, for his part, referred to cultural and historical bonds between the two nations and welcomed Iran’s proposal to this effect.

He also welcomed Iran’s offer for expansion of academic cooperation and exchange of university professors between the two countries.

The Iranian minister also extended the warm greetings of the Iranian president to the Libyan leader and voiced readiness for expansion of all-out cooperation in cultural and educational fields between the two sides.

The Iranian minister of culture and Islamic guidance leading a delegation arrived in Paris on Tuesday morning to attend the 35th UNESCO conference.

The 35th UNESCO meeting kicked off in Paris on Tuesday hosting a number of prominent figures from around the globe.
