INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC CULINARY FESTIVAL OPENS IN BAKU

Baku, October 7 (AzerTAc). An international Islamic culinary festival has kicked off in Azerbaijan`s capital, bringing together chefs from Belarus, the Philippines, Georgia, Canada, Iran, Iceland, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and Greece.
The festival is held as part of a series of events Baku hosts in the capacity of the Islamic culture capital in 2009.
Opening the event, Azeri deputy minister of culture and tourism, Sevda Mammadaliyeva, expressed confidence the festival would contribute to promoting Azerbaijani cuisine worldwide.
Among those in attendance at the event were president of the World Association of Chefs Societies Gissur Gudmundsson, president of the International Organization of Folk Art Carmen Padilla and Director of Azerbaijan National Culinary Center Tahir Amiraslanov.
The event will feature competitions, exhibitions and a conference.
