TOKYO, Oct. 6 Kyodo -
Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada plans to visit China on Friday and Saturday to
attend a trilateral summit meeting involving the leaders of Japan, China and
South Korea, the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.
While the summit meeting is scheduled to be held in Beijing on Saturday, Okada
will arrive a day earlier to meet senior Chinese officials to discuss ways to
advance bilateral ''strategic and mutually beneficial relations,'' the ministry
said.
The tripartite meeting among Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, Chinese
Premier Wen Jiabao and South Korean President Lee Myung Bak will be the first
time for Hatoyama to visit China since taking office Sept. 16.
