AZERBAIJAN READY TO MAKE CERTAIN COMPROMISE, BUT ONLY BASED ON ITS PRINCIPAL POSITION, DEPUTY FM

Baku, October 6 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s deputy foreign minister Araz Azimov said the country is ready to make a compromise regarding the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but only based on its principal position.
“No conflict can be completely solved, but there is a method of compromises when you receive something in return to what you compromise.”
Azimov said: “Azerbaijan declares that its is ready to grant a high status of self-governance to the two communities in the Nagorno-Karabakh, but this must be in accordance with the principle of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.”
“This means that Azerbaijan has already made half of the way and that Armenia must give up its maximalist position to do the same.”
“Armenia must agree to a settlement that would be based on Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity,” said Azimov.
