Rebellion overshadows school year in restive Saada
SAADA, Oct. 04 (Saba) - The
2009-2010 school year has been postponed in Saada until the end of October amid
continual confrontations
between the army and the Houthi rebels.
The announcement was made during the regular
meeting of the Saada executive office chaired by Governor Hassan Mohamed Mana'a. The
meeting focused on the developments in the province, particularly topics of employee
discipline, power services and preparations for receiving the school year and
measures
to fight swine flu. It also discussed the conditions of war-displaced and
arrangements for aid delivery for displaced camps as well as arrangements for the
celebrations of
revolutions. On Saturday, 5.5 million Yemeni students headed to the schools across
the republic except the capital and Sayoon where the school year was postponed amid
swine
flu surge. The 2009-2010 academic year was delayed last month to take further
preventive measures to fight the H1N1 pandemic. FR
