Ankara, October 4 (AzerTAc). Turkey`s President Abdullah Gul said the 9th summit of the Turkish-speaking countries` Heads of State held in Nakhchivan was “a big success”.
Speaking to journalists at the Esenboga Airport upon his arrival from Azerbaijan, Gul said the outcomes of the summit were very important for developing cooperation and strengthening relations among Turkish-speaking countries.
The Turkish leader called the Nakhchivan summit “a historical”, saying: “We set up a new international organization - the Cooperation Council of Turkish-speaking countries.”
“We also agreed to hold one official and one business meeting a year.”
He said: “Summits of Heads of State of Turkish-speaking countries have been held since 1992. However, these gatherings were just the meetings. But our work over last two years allowed us to set up a very important body that would boost cooperation among our countries and bring us closer to one another.”
The Turkish President also hailed the organization of the summit.
“The event was very well organized. And, of course, we thank Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for this, and also for high hospitality shown to all participants during our stay in Nakhchivan.”
