New chapter to open in Iran-Croatia ties
Head of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) Mehdi Mostafavi said on Saturday that a new chapter will open in Iran-Croatia ties.
In a meeting with the Croatian President, Stepan Mesic in Zagreb, he noted that prosperity of human civilization depends on cultural interactions among nations and most of international problems will be solved through cultural approaches.
Given cultural commonalities between Iran and Croatia, bilateral ties will improve, he said, hoping that a new chapter will open in the field in the context of cultural agreement.
Describing the future of mutual cooperation as promising, Mostafavi said that the two nations will witness new developments in their cultural relations.
The two nations have started excellent activities in the field of publishing and translating books, he said, noting that publishers from both countries will cooperate in book fairs.
Referring to Iranian cinema’s active presence in important international festivals, the official noted, “We are interested in making use of Croatia’s experience in the field of animation.”
Mesci, for his part, referred to peaceful coexistence among different ethnic groups in Croatia and said that construction of a mosque and the second Islamic center in the port city of Rijeka is an example of the Croatian government’s attention to the Muslims living in the country.
Pointing to Iran’s capabilities in different fields, he noted that since the fossil fuels are being depleted, access to nuclear energy is the right of all countries including Iran.
A cultural agreement was also signed by the two countries to promote cooperation between their artists and cultural institutes and associations.
