IRNA chief underlines Iran-Iraq media cooperation
Managing Director of Islamic Republic News Agency Mohammad Jafar Behdad here on Saturday underlined expansion of media cooperation between Iran and Iraq.
Talking with Iraqi Ambassador to Iran Abu Heidar Al-Sheikh, who had inspected various sections of IRNA, he noted that given the high level of diplomatic ties between the two countries, mutual cooperation will surely develop in near future.
Stating that Iraqi envoy’s visit to IRNA is a turning point in the entity’s history of activities, Behdad noted that the news agency is duty-bound to disseminate information based on excellent bilateral ties.
Promoting media cooperation between the two states will facilitate exchange of news on developments in both countries so that bilateral relations will further broaden, he said, noting that IRNA is ready to expand media ties with Iraq.
Pointing out that Iran and Iraq both are rich and powerful, Behdad noted that that’s for the same reason that the Arab country was invaded in the past years by the arrogant powers.
The IRNA chief further stated that the arrogant powers try to insinuate that religion is inefficient in administering a country, but they got to understand that the truth is just the opposite.
Describing sowing of discord among Muslim countries as a one of the plots of the arrogant powers today, he further said that Tehran-Baghdad ties are so strong, deeply and friendly that nobody can harm them.
Iran will support a powerful and independent Iraq, he said, noting that Iraq’s welfare and security are those of Iran, Behdad said.
IRNA is the official news agency of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It is government-funded and controlled under the supevision of the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
It was established in 1934 by the Foreign Ministry of Iran as the country's official national news outlet. For the next six years it operated under the same ministry working to disseminate national and international news. Pars Agency, as it was then called, published a bulletin twice a day in French and Persian which is circulated among government officials, international news agencies in Tehran and the local press.
