AZERBAIJANI CHESS PLAYERS TO PARTICIPATE IN EUROPEAN CLUB CUP 2009
Baku, October 1 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani chess players will participate in the 25th European Club Cup 2009 (men), slated for October 4, in Ohrid (Republic of Macedonia). The tournament will bring together 54 teams. Azerbaijan chess players will compete within the other teams. Thus, Vugar Hashimov (2740) will compete in “Ashdod” club (Israel). Ukrainian grand master Vasili Ivanchuk will play first. Emil Sutovski (2676), Boris Avrukh (2668), Ilya Smirin (2648), Vitali Golod (2602) and Arthur Kogan (2522) will compete for the Israeli team.
Shahriyar Mammadyarov (2721), Gadir Huseynov (2667), Rauf Mammadov (2626) and also Gata Kamski (USA, 2692), Andrey Volokitin (Ukraine, 2681), Trajko Nedev (Macedonia, 2511), Zvonko Tranojovski (Macedonia, 2492) and Alexander Kolovich (Macedonia, 2441) will compete for “Alkaloid” team, Macedonia.
The European Club Cup will end on October 11.
