AzerTAc, UNESCO TO CO-ORGANIZE SEMINAR IN BAKU
Baku, September 30 (AzerTAc). Advisor for Communication and Information of the UNESCO Office in Moscow Marius Lukosiunas and first secretary of the Azerbaijani National Commission for UNESCO Gunay Efendiyeva have Wednesday visited the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAc).
Director General of AzerTAc Aslan Aslanov briefed them on the history of the Agency.
Aslan Aslanov also spoke of Azerbaijan`s achievements during national leader Heydar Aliyev`s years in power and the national leader`s care and attention to the Agency.
He noted AzerTAc is a member of the world`s major regional news organizations, and that the agency successfully represents Azerbaijan in international events.
Aslanov remembered national leader`s meeting in UNESCO Headquarters in Paris during his first official visit to France in 1993.
He underlined UNESCO and Azerbaijan had close relationship thanks to efforts of Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s President, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva. He also pointed out AzerTAc covers UNESCO-organized events in Azerbaijan.
Marius Lukosiunas, in turn, stressed the role of news agencies in informing the world community of UNESCO`s programs and projects in various spheres. He added “UNESCO attaches special importance to AzerTAc in this issue”.
Lukosiunas also noted UNESCO intends to use AzerTAc`s support in organizing a seminar in November in Baku.
Then, a contract was signed between AzerTAc and UNESCO on organizing a one-day seminar aimed to strengthen professionalism of journalists and raise awareness of the issues of the impact of climate change in Azerbaijan.
The visitors were also presented memorial keepsakes.
