BAKU HOSTS 1st PLENARY MEETING OF TURKPA

Baku, September 30 (AzerTAc). The first plenary meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic speaking countries (TurkPA) has taken place in Azerbaijan`s capital.
Opening the meeting, chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov said creation of TurkPA will be a turning point in the history of Turkic-speaking nations.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Asadov said the dispute “poses a serious threat for peace and stability of not only Azerbaijan, but also of the whole region”.
He added the Azerbaijani government wants the conflict to be settled in accordance with international legal norms.
The summit set up the Association of Journalists accredited in TurkPA member countries.
The event ended with the adoption of a Baku Declaration,
