Japan to Seek Cooperation to Prevent Flu Damage to Tourism

Tokyo, Sept. 29 (Jiji Press)--Japan's tourism minister Seiji
Maehara plans to ask China and South Korea next month for cooperation in
minimizing the effect of swine flu on the travel industry, informed sources
told Jiji Press Tuesday.

Maehara will make the request at a meeting of tourism ministers
from the three countries, scheduled for Oct. 17-18 in the central Japan city
of Nagoya, the sources said.
Japan hopes to join forces with the two countries in order to
provide accurate information at a time when flu fear has kept many would-be
tourists at home, the sources said.
The trilateral meeting, which was launched in 2006, will be the
fourth of its kind. The three countries are set to discuss measures to boost
travel demand.
