Lloyd, O'Loughlin join AFL programs

Newly-retired stars Matthew Lloyd and Michael O'Loughlin have taken development
roles at the AFL.

Lloyd, the former Essendon captain, has joined the AFL-AIS Academy as an assistant
coach.
O'Loughlin, Sydney's games record holder, will develop the league's indigenous
program as well as helping with the high development and talent programs.
The league had planned to announce O'Loughlin's appointment last week, but it was
postponed after the AFL reached a deal with Etihad Stadium over financial returns to
clubs.
Lloyd and O'Loughlin are in Canberra for an AFL-AIS academy camp.
"We are delighted that Michael and Matthew have joined us to play a pivotal role
engaging and developing the next generation of elite young talent in our game," said
AFL development manager David Matthews.
"Michael in particular will work with young indigenous players and players with
diverse multicultural backgrounds."
O'Loughlin retired at the end of Sydney's season, while Lloyd mulled over his future
during the finals series before ending his career last week.
