Fury`s unbeaten run ends with 2-0 loss
North Queensland Fury's undefeated streak has ended with a 2-0 defeat by Adelaide
United in Round 8 of the A-League at Dairy Farmers Stadium.
A crowd of 6,745 watched the Fury dominate the first half with a number of goal
opportunities and strong defence keeping Adelaide's goal-scoring opportunities to a
minimum.
The Fury's most promising opportunity arose when Adelaide were forced to make
desperate defensive attempts with a mis-kick giving Daniel McBreen a shot that slid
past the right side of the goal.
A header from Adelaide United's Mark Rudan floated over the crossbar.
The second half kicked off with Daniel McBreen continuing his onslaught, firing a
powerful shot that was deflected by Adelaide keeper Eugene Galekovic.
A clearance kick from the Fury's goalkeeper found its way to the opposition which
allowed Lucas Pantelis to get a low shot away that slipped past Paul Henderson to
give Adelaide a 1-0 lead.
Shortly after Adelaide were attacking again with a shot from Iain Fyfe hitting the
side bar.
Continuing their attempts on goal, Jason Spagnuolo got a good ball away to Daniel
McBreen who had a shot on goal that floated over the cross bar.
A great individual goal from Adelaide's Mathew Leckie put the Fury's hopes of
levelling the game beyond reach.
