UZBEK EMBASSY MARKS COUNTRY`S INDEPENDENCE DAY
Baku, 26 September (AzerTAc). The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan organized Friday an official reception to mark the country`s Independence Day.
Opening the event, Uzbek ambassador Ismatulla Irgashev said relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan had old history. According to him, the two countries are successfully cooperating in political, economic and cultural spheres.
He also noted friendly relations between Presidents Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan and Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan contributes to boosting bilateral cooperation even more.
The ambassador described Azerbaijan his country`s “strategic partner”.
On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the diplomat stressed his country supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
Attending the event, Azerbaijani Minister of Communication and Information Technology Ali Abbasov congratulated the Uzbek people on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev. He praised the current level of bilateral ties stressing that the two countries have signed over 80 documents featuring prospects for economic and cultural cooperation.
He also hailed the fact that the two countries share the same position within international organizations.
The event participants saw a documentary on the history of the country`s capital Tashkent.
