AZERBAIJAN-CZECHIA BUSINESS FORUM WRAPS UP IN BAKU

Baku, 25 September (AzerTAc). An Azerbaijan-Czechia business forum organized by Ministry of Economic Development, Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry has ended in Baku.
The event brought together about 40 Czech and over 100 Azerbaijani businessmen specializing in tourism, chemical financial, light, and heavy and construction industries.
Azerbaijan`s Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev told of achievements being implemented in Azerbaijan in the field of entrepreneurship. Improvement of the business milieu, creation of favorable conditions for local and foreign investors is one of the main priorities of economic policy of the government, said Mr. Mustafayev. After regaining its independence, approximately $ 65 bn was invested in Azerbaijan`s economy. Minister underlined that an important place in foreign economic relations of Azerbaijan takes place cooperation with the EU, including Czechia. In 2008, trade turnover between the two countries made up $ 21 mln, Minister added.
Czech Senate`s President Premysl Sobotka stressed the development of economic, political, cultural relations between the two countries. He noted that soon opening of Czech Embassy to Azerbaijan would promote the cooperation between the businessmen.
Acting head of AZPROMO Farida Akhundova told of business milieu and investment opportunities of Azerbaijan. Executive Director of Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry for CIS Masapust Frantichek delivered report on “Czech companies` interests to Azerbaijan”, while executive director of Azerbaijan Investment Company Afgan Isayev on the structures` activities.
The forum participants also watched documentary on favorable investment conditions of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
