TENTH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS “ENERGY, ECOLOGY, ECONOMY” KICKS OFF IN BAKU

Baku, September 23 (AzerTAc). The 10th international congress entitled “Energy, ecology, economy” has today started here bringing together representatives from more than 30 countries including the United States, Germany, Russia, Turkey, Norway and Japan.
The event was organized by Azerbaijan Ministry of Industry and Energy, National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and International Ecoenergy Academy (IEA).
Opening the congress, IEA`s president Fagan Aliyev said the purpose of the event was to discuss “such global problems as energy security, environmental pollution and protection of population against natural disasters”.
He noted the congress would also focus on ecological problems of the Caspian Sea and Absheron Peninsula. Aliyev also delivered a report briefing the participants on projects carried out by IEA.
During the event, Azerbaijani minister of industry and energy Natig Aliyev, ANAS president Mahmud Karimov and rector of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction Gulchohra Mammadova were awarded IEA`s gold medal for their fruitful scientific and public activities.
The congress will continue tomorrow focusing on biological diversity of the Caspian Sea, global ecological problems, global warming, climate change, energy security, alternative energy sources and other issues.
