CoE CONGRESS OF LOCAL AND REGIONAL AUTHORITIES TO MONITOR MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN
Baku, September 23 (AzerTAc). Representatives of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe will monitor the upcoming municipal elections in Azerbaijan.
The decision was adopted in the Bureau Meeting of the Congress in Strasbourg on 21 September.
During the meeting, the Congress`s acting president Ian Micallef presented a report on the results of his visit to Azerbaijan from 10 to 14 September.
Micallef confirmed the positive spirit of the meetings, saying the Azerbaijani government agreed “to consult the Council`s Venice Commission and the Congress in order to achieve further progress in respect of local self-government and decentralization”.
